Does not meet expectation
It's not gel and it's not firm. The tag on the pillow says 100% polyester filling and 100% cotton covering. My mom loves it and I paid standard price for king, so I'm not upset enough about the purchase to send it back. It just isn't what I expected and didn't meet my needs. I was expecting something more like a temperpedic material. This is a regular soft pillow that rebounds nicely.
Lumpy after a while
I was REALLY excited about these pillows because my husband and I are always debating about down vs. cotton stuffed pillows. I thought these would be the perfect compromise. He prefers down, so I was amazed when they first arrived and he said they were great. In addition to him liking them, I also enjoyed the feeling of them. They are softer than a Tempurpedic pillow, but firmer than the average down pillow. As side sleepers, my husband and I both enjoyed the fluff of the pillow, in addition to the support they offered without being too hard. Another reason I LOVED them because they also have soft, stain resistant covers, so ever if something leaks through your pillowcase, the pillow itself will not stain.
Now that we've been using these pillows for 3 months, they are starting to lose their feel. They are starting to develop lumps-I am a side sleeper, so I put the pillow under my head and hold onto it with my arms. The lumps are where I've slept with my head on it and my arms around it repeatedly. This is disappointing because if they were a TRUE alternative for the down pillow, they would simply fluff back up after being used, but this is not the case. Now that they are getting lumping, they are becoming EXTREMELY uncomfortable to use and are on their way to being demoted to the guest room.
Overall, I have to say I'm glad we got a good deal on these or I would be VERY unsatisfied! I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 because the stain resistant covering is still working well, but the pillow itself is no longer comfortable. I have had to give in and go back to the down pillows as they las longer and even though they aren't my favorite, still offer more support and comfort than I've gotten from this set. I would pass-or you'll be disappointed and get to hear "I told you so" in just a few months!
Wish I had gotten more
I've had a set of these for about 3 months now and I couldn't be happier with them. They are supportive, yet in my opinion very soft, though the best quality is their durability. With previous pillows (at least hypoallergenic ones), there seems to be a magic couple weeks before the pillow breaks down into a flat, uncomfortable mess...and this set of pillows seems about the same as the day we bought them.
Dream Supreme Plus Pillow
It lasted about two months...the gel inside the pillow shifts left to right leaving a dent in the middle. Now I'm in search for another set of pillows. I guess you get what you paid for.
Like Sleeping on Marshmallow
I think my title says it all. There is nothing else I could think to compare it to unless it's marshmallow fluff inside a pillow case. I like some support in my sleeping pillow and this really provides none at all. Also, this is a two-pack and Amazon only sent me one pillow. They said I'd have to return the one pillow I received (and needed at the time!) in order to receive two in a separate order once the original one returned to them! I had a similar problem with another retailer and they simply sent me a second item and I would have expected the same from Amazon. If I were a new customer I would have been very frustrated if I needed the two pillows; why should I have to go to the trouble of mailing back an item I am entitled to because of their mistake? I also had the choice of a 50 percent refund, which I chose. I was shocked that they claimed to be unable to simply send me a second pillow; now I am glad because I wouldn't have wanted another one anyway since the one I do have is on the floor for my cat. Frustrating all around.
